Chuck close art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some Chuck Close art. Firstly
we got given a piece of paper, on the paper was a grid over a
shape. We then needed to colour in the dark areas with dark
colors and the light areas in with light colors, after that we had
to go over the colors with pencil to create designs if the the
colors were dark we went over them with dark colors and if it
was light we went over them with light colors. We then had to
cut them out and join them together to create a face.  Here is
our success criteria. I enjoyed seeing the finished product, I didn’t
enjoy colouring in. Have you ever done this art before?

Terrific Tessellation

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about tessellation. Tessellation is when you use the same shape and put them together with no gaps or overlapping. I enjoyed learning something new. I didn’t enjoy having to colour in the sheet. Have you tried creating a tessellation before? Here is my

Whaea Gina

Yesterday Whaea Gina came in to talk to us about how she helped us and what we learnt. We then did a reflection and answered questions on this sheet of paper. We learnt that there are four food groups which is Protein, Milk and Milk products, brain food and Fruit and vegetables. We learnt about this because it’s important to look after our body. I am going to try to eat more Vegetables. Thank you whaea Gina for coming in to talk to us about healthy eating and looking after our body. Here is my DLO.

Awesome art

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some art. We were learning
to work together to put together a face. We first had to colour
in a square  with black on the gray bits once we had all finished
coloring we had to put the squares together to make a face. The
first one we did we found out it was Spock from Star Trek and the
next was Bob Marley. My favourite part was trying to guess who
it was. I found it hard to colour in without ripping the paper. Have
you ever done this art before?

The visit from the librarians

Yesterday some librarians from the Far North District Council came to Paihia School library to give four student librarians some tips. The librarians were very friendly and after we chatted to them for a bit  about the bell rang. There boss Chris said we can stay and help if we ask our teachers. Unfortunately Taleshia and Cheyenne had to go to kapa haka but me and AJ got to help them. They set up a rotation for Te Moana and Nga Motu. We got to help with the virtual reality, speros and heaps of other cool things. Do you have a library that you go to?

Awesome athletics

The Seniors at Paihia School have been training for athletics. Every Wednesday and Friday we go out to train. We get split into five  groups I’m in the second group and so far I’ve only done high jump, relays and shot put. I enjoyed high jump because I liked jumping onto the mat. I learnt that to properly throw a shot put, you high five the sky when you release the shot put. I am going to try harder so that I get better and better. Does your school do athletics?

Wonderful maths

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about the area and perimeter of a shape. The area is is the space a shape covers up like if I placed a piece of paper on a floor its how much space the piece of paper took up. The perimeter is the distance of the shape. I enjoyed cutting out the shapes and tracing around them in our maths group so that we could measure the number of squares it took up. Thanks for reading and I hope you learnt something.
