We made decorated cookies, vaseline saucers and arranged a novelty container to get judged. We also made A&P posters. My favourites were the vaseline saucers.

Swim safety
A couple of weeks ago in Te Maunga we went to a water safety lesson in our whare.
We learnt five important rules: never swim alone, always tell someone you’re going swimming,
bring a boogie board, check the weather and tell someone what time you will be back from swimming.
Never ever rely on a teenager to supervise you because they might get distracted with electronics and
not watch you properly.

Flubber
In Te Maunga this term we have been making lots of experiments inspired by fractions in maths.
All we needed was warm water, PVA glue and borax .
All we needed was warm water, PVA glue and borax .
4 ¼ of Water (1 Cup)
4 Cups of PVA Glue
and 4 teaspoons of borax.
We added it all together but it DID NOT work and it didn’t work because we we added too much water. Some kids also made another smaller batch. But I think it didn’t work because we added to much glue and water and also the borax did not dissolve.Thursday, September 6, 2018
In The Beginning
This Term we have been doing activities based around Rangi and Papa. One of the activities was a slide presentation with questions we answer .Some people put the writing on their slide. Some people also made a comic strip about Rangi and Papa I didn’t because mine got lost. The whole class made a collage of something related to the story. I enjoyed answering the questions. What I found tricky was not getting frustrated about the collage taking so long.

Te Reo Maori - Kai
In Te Maunga we have been learning about Te Reo Maori. We also learnt the Maori words for food e.g. Banana would be panana. We had to make a slide and insert pictures of food like fruit/ Seafood and vegetabl.es Underneath the pictures we had to write the English name then the te reo name. I enjoyed learning the Maori words. What I found tricky was trying to pronounce and spell the words correctly. Mrs Pou also gave us some food and we had to say He tino reka/kawa It is very sweet/sour. Mrs Pou also gave us pepper. Eww yuck

He tino reka/kawa It is sweet/sour
In Te Maunga we have been doing a slideshow with all the things we
have been doing about Kai/food. We tasted some food and the
teacher would say “titiro ki te __ nei”. We would reply back
“ he tino reka/kawa” meaning sweet or sour. I enjoyed tasting
the food and saying if it was sweet or sour but not when the
teacher gave us some pepper (pepa).

Rocky Shore
On week 3 term 2 everybody made a google drawing about the rocky shore. We had to compare a looked after rocky shore compared to Paihia rocky shore. To save the rocky shore I will ask tourists nicely not to step on our rocky shore. I will also look after different species each week.
