Hiwi The Kiwi Comes To Paihia School
On 21st of June Paihia School went to the whare to see Hiwi The Kiwi to learn about seafood(kaimoana) and seabirds(manu moana). Hiwi the Kiwi sang songs about the kaimoana to help save them and to give messages about them. He also talked about boat safety like wear your life jacket or sitting down when the boat is moving.

He tino reka/kawa It is sweet/sour
In Te Maunga we have been doing a slideshow with all the things we
have been doing about Kai/food. We tasted some food and the
teacher would say “titiro ki te __ nei”. We would reply back
“ he tino reka/kawa” meaning sweet or sour. I enjoyed tasting
the food and saying if it was sweet or sour but not when the
teacher gave us some pepper (pepa).
