Basic facts

This term we are learning our basic facts I’m learning my 7x at the moment but I still have to learn my 12x then I would of learnt all my times tables. I think I’ve done well learning my times tables. I enjoy the challenge of getting tested by Gina. Next time I get tested I’m going to try not repeat the basic fact because it wastes 3 seconds.

This week in Te Ngahere were learning about Kupe’s, Nukutawhiti, James Cook and Abel Tasman’s  Journey to New Zealand and how they impacted on New Zealand history. I enjoyed learning about NZ history I think I worked well making the slide presentation about James Cook. Next time I want to find more information and make it less boring. We found out that he had three pacific voyages, each voyage he had a aim to achieve something.

Anzac Biscuit problems

Last week we started making a DLO about Anzac biscuit math. I learnt that anzac biscuits
went into tins then the tins went into cartons then the cartons went into crates. I think that I
worked well with my group to solve the problem. I enjoyed learning something new. Next
time I want to find out more ways to solve the problem.

Doubling and halving

We have been learning about doubling and halving in Te Ngahere. I think I am
better at it than I was. I enjoyed learning something new. Next time I am going to
try set my math book out tidier so the teachers can check it.

Rebet's visit

On Monday the 11th of March a motivational speaker came to Paihia school but only te Ngahere listened to him. We were learning to hang out with positive people and take the positive path. I enjoyed hearing how he choose to be positive with a whole lot of negative people and things. I think I listened well and I next time I want to ask more questions..

Magic show

On Wednesday the 27th of February the year 0-6s went to see the magic show eat right be right . Entry was not free you had to pay 4$. We we learning to eat right using magic. The first trick was a pigeon appearing out of a white cloth then he put it in a blue cage. The second trick he got a magician wand and spilled gasoline on it then lit it with a lighter and waved it around, then stopped in the middle of the stage and shook it up then down then the fire went out and it turned into a long tinfoil looking stick. Then he said his intro. After, he asked for a assistant and the assistant put on all these ironman closes with labels from good types of vitamins. Then it was over I was so sad but I enjoyed the fire tricks. Next time I want to be a assistant.

Talent quest

On Friday Paihia school held a talent quest there was heaps of cool acts like dancing, jokes, gymnastics, singing and even a skit. I learnt heaps of new dance moves. I think I was really good at supporting this little kid’s dance group and helping them practice. I enjoyed taking photos for the web committee. Next time I want to enter.

Our trip to the Treaty Grounds

On the 7th and 8th of February we went to Waitangi Treaty Grounds to learn about these new apps. We also learnt about the history of the treaty. We were put into 2 groups and we took turns going for a walk with the smartphone, taking pictures and also having a tutu with these apps such as dash robots, sculptgl, paint 3d, tinkercad, virtual reality, green screen and stop motion. I enjoyed virtual reality. I think I worked well on the dashbots. Next time I want to make a whare on tinkercad.
