Infographics

In Te Ngahere we read this text to help us understand what a scientific method is and to help us make an infographic. A infographic is when you share information using images. To create an infographic we had to do the process of a scientific method. The process starts with someone asking a question then research make a hypothesis after that you test your hypothesis then analysis it now make a conclusion and that’s the process of a scientific method.
Here is my infographic.

Same Same Subtraction

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about same same subtraction. Same Same subtraction is when you have a subtraction problem and you've got to make the number that you take away a tidy number by adding. For example, the question was 82 - 44 you would plus 6 onto 44 so you get 50 then you have to plus 6 onto the 82 so you get 88 then you get the question 88 - 50 which is easier to answer than 82 - 44 and the answer is 38. We use this strategy when we need to make a subtraction problem easier.

Marble Run

In Te Ngahere we have been building marble ramps. We
were learning about variables and friction. A variable is
something you change to improve something or make it
worse in a scientific test. Friction is created from the surface,
If you have a smooth surface your marble will go fast but if it is
bumpy it will go slower. We had to try and get a marble to exactly
110 cm from the ramp. The first thing we did was get into a group
of three. Then we gathered things from around the classroom to use
for our ramp. After that we assembled our ramps with the equipment.
After we assembled our ramps we put a marble on the top of the ramp
then released the marble to see how far it would go we did this 10 times.
After we tested it 10 times we changed a variable Then we tested the
modified ramp ten more times. We Kept doing this till we found the design
that was closest to 110 cm. We then had to write precise instructions to give
to another group so they can build the ramp on the testing day. Last Friday
we had the testing day. Our names were drawn out of 2 boxes one group
designed the ramp and the other had to follow the instructions to build it.
We learned that it was really important to right clear and precise instructions.
The winning was designed by Missy Emma and Cheyenne, their ramp was
built by Isabella-paige and Mikaila. In my group was AJ, Autumn and Zara.
