In Te Ngahere we have been learning about standard and non standard measurements. A standard measurement is a measurement that never changes and a non standard measurement is something that changes like for example your footstep it doesn't stay the same every time. To learn about standard and non standard footsteps we measured our school court in metres and in our footsteps we also measured 1 footstep and tried to figure out how many of our footsteps would equal ten metres if our footstep was to stay the same every time.

Cross country
In Te ngahere we have been training for cross country. To record our data we have been typing them into a graph. When we added them to the graph we had to put the time in seconds and in minutes. Here is my data.
Science fair
Last friday Te Ngahere held a science fair. We learnt that persevering was the key to success. In Te Ngahere we have also been learning about the scientific method preparing for the science fair. My group is AJ. Our science fair project is testing for iron in cereal. Before we tested we created a google form to have some student voice in our science fair project. We found out that the most favourite cereals are Nutrigrain, Ricies, Coco pops, Weetbix and Milo. To test these cereals we have to crush up the cereals and hold a magnet to the cereal and see if anything moves. If the cereal moves that means it might have a trace of metallic iron. Our next step would be testing for iron in watered cereal. The judges for our science fair were Mrs lindsay (our principal) and Danielle (a marine biologist). Here are a few pics.

NED
Yesterday Nicole came to our school to talk about NED. We learnt to have a positive mindset and be resilient. NED stands for Never give up, Encourage others, Do your best. Nicole also spoke to us about let go of I know, if you let go of I know you your brain grows. After the show I got a selfie with Nicole and NED. Here is a few pics and my NED show poster.
