Awesome Blogging
In Te Ngahere we have been learning how to write a quality blog post, following the six steps to a quality blog post. The six steps are Title, Introduction, DLO, Reflection, sources and a question. The title is important because if it is catchy it makes the reader want to read more. An introduction is important because that’s where you tell your readers about what the post is about. A DLO is important because it shows the reader what you learnt. A reflection is important because it lets the reader know what you enjoyed and what was challenging. Sources is important because if you used a photo that wanted credit then you can give them credit in the sources. A question is important because it makes readers more likely to comment on your work and give you feedback.I enjoyed trying to improve my posts. I found it challenging to add a introduction. Have you got any feedback to help improve my posts or did I teach you something ? Here is my DLO.

Fabulous Movie Making
In Te Ngahere we have been preparing for the film festival in term 4. We were learning to use different camera shots to make our movie more interesting. MY favourite camera shot isworms eye view which is when you have the camera on the ground looking up. We also are learning to write a script following story beats. Story beats is a doc that we fill in so our story gets finished. In the story beats you have to have a problem and a solution. I enjoyed being an actor and writing the script. I found it challenging to get the right shots for the movie. Here is a blank story beat doc.

In Te Ngahere we have been learning a range of strategies to solve word problems. I enjoyed learning cool new strategies to help make it easy for me to solve problems. One of the strategies was short division. Short division is a strategy you can use to solve division problems. After we completed our worksheets we had to create a DLO. Here is my DLO.

Beach clean up
Last Friday Te Ngahere went to the beach in town to pick up rubbish. We had a challenge to see who could pick up the most rubbish but we all got a reward anyway. We were learning to be tidy kiwi not lazy kiwi. I enjoyed working together to pick up rubbish. I didn’t enjoy seeing how many cigarette butts there were, right by a bin.

Duffy assembly
At Paihia school we receive books from duffy, every 2 terms we have a duffy assembly. Today we had our duffy role model assembly. WE were lucky enough for Rebecca Brothers to be our duffy role model. Rebecca brothers is a retired olympic swimmer and now she is a police officer. After the assembly we receive books I got an EJ12 book and a babysitters club book I choose them because I really like those sort of books. We were learning about Rebecca's backstory. I enjoyed learning about how books had helped her family.
Here are some pics.

Te reo maori
In Te Ngahere we have been learning to say class objects in Te Reo Maori. To show what we had learnt we had to create an animation. We had to take photos of objects then remove the background from the image and insert it into a slide. We had to have a photo of someone holding an object then ask, He aha tenei? (what is this?) Then if we are holding a pen you would reply He pene tena? (That is a pen). When I was working with my buddy (Anyah) to create it we found it really tricky to say and spell paint in maori. I would probably use this to help me understand a bit more of te reo maori. I really enjoyed learning some more te reo maori.

Cross country
This term we have been training hard for cross country.I had also set a goal for myself to keep my pace and to not give up. So this Friday, Paihia School transported us to Bledisloe Domain to run cross country. After everybody arrived Mrs Lindsay and Mrs Williams explained the order. After that the 5-9 year old age groups ran, when it got to my age group I was so nervous but excited. I started of sprinting hard then got tired so I started slowing down when we got to the hill I overtook a few people and I came third. If you came first second or third you get to go to interschool cross country. I can’t wait till interschool cross country.
